Pallet Storage Systems
The RightChain taxonomy of pallet storage systems distinguishes four categories; stacking systems; static rack systems; dynamic rack systems; and mobile rack systems. First, stacking systems are distinguished from other pallet storage systems because they do not employ fixed racking, but instead have pallet loads stored on top of one another. Stacking systems include floor storage block stacking systems and stacking frames. Second, static rack systems employ fixed racking, however, there no moving parts within the rack and the rack themselves are stationary. Static rack systems include single-deep pallet rack, double-deep pallet rack, and drive-in rack. Third, dynamic rack systems employ fixed racking but are equipped with devices within them that can move pallets between the front and back of a storage lane. Dynamic rack systems include push-back rack, pallet flow rack, and pallet shuttle systems. Mobile pallet rack systems are fixed rack systems that move along rails in the floor to create aisles where they are needed.
